Specialists in Urologic Care

David Dever, MD
A graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and received his medical education at Albany Medical College. He served as a surgical resident at the University of California at Irvine where he worked to develop urodynamic evaluation for the incontinent patient. He completed his urologic training at the University of Rochester and is Board Certified. He has pioneered several procedures, including transrectal ultrasound for prostate biopsy, laser technology in urologic care, and cryoablation for the treatment of prostate cancer. Dr. Dever and Dr. Donahue introduced laparoscopy in minimally invasive urologic care to this region. Dr. Dever also resurrected perineal prostate removal for cancer treatment. He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and provided preceptorships across the country. He is currently involved in multiple clinical research projects.


Laurence Donahue, MD
A graduate of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. After studying for a master's degree in Biochemistry at SUNY-Buffalo, New York, Dr. Donahue received his medical degree from SUNY-Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. He served as an intern and surgical resident at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, New York and completed his urology residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He has received post-graduate training in prostate ultrasound, Cryosurgical Ablation Therapy and Brachytherapy (radiation seed implant) for the treatment of prostate cancer. Dr. Donahue is Board Certified. Together with Dr. Dever, Dr. Donahue has pioneered the use of Laparoscopy in the treatment of both benign and malignant diseases of the Urinary Tract. Dr. Donahue has a special interest in the treatment of prostate and bladder cancer as well as kidney stone disease.


Melanie Butler, MD
A graduate of Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. and earned her medical doctor degree from the University at Buffalo's School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She previously served as an attending physician in Urology at both the Center for Urology in Rochester, N.Y. and at Syracuse Urology Associates. Her professional memberships include the American Urological Association, the Society of Women in Urology and the Society of Endourology. Dr. Butler is establishing and building a practice specifically focused on providing the highest level of urologic care for women. Working with UAR's providers and staff, she is expanding and enhancing the practice's state-of-the-art services and therapies for women's urology health issues.  


Brian Adcock, RPA-C
A graduate of Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia where he earned his bachelor's degree in Medical Science. He is Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc. He worked as a staff Physician Assistant at Highland Hospital in both General Surgery and Urology, where he assisted extensively in both open and laparoscopic procedures.



Paul Scheib, RPA-C
A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant. He is Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc. He worked as a Physician Assistant for a number of healthcare providers in the area. Paul is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the New York State Society of Physician Assistants and the Rochester Regional Physician Assistant Association.


Crystal Englert, MPAS, RPA-C 
A nationally certified Physician Assistant. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Gannon University with her Master degree in Physician Assistant Science. She is nationally certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a Registered Physician Assistant in New York State. Ms. Englert is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, as well as the New York Society of Physician Assistants. She has worked in Urology in the Western New York area specializing in female urology. Her specialties include Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation and Incontinence.


Lindsay Short, MS, RN, FNP-BC
A graduate of the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, where she earned her Master's degree in Advanced Practice Nursing. She is nationally certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She worked as a registered nurse in urology, general surgery, and pediatrics. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of urinary incontinence.
